Things I Hoard

Posted by Stitchblade | 11:29 PM Nov 11, 2008

I have noticed that I have a tendency to keep things. Like keep them and covet them and not use them the way they are intended to be used. Like stationery. I love all this cutesy stuff and I can barely bring myself to use it up. I have stationery here still from when I was a KID. Fabric...I have BINS full of fabric. I look at it and get the scissors, then at the last minute I just can't do it. I fold it up and put it back. Another one is pens...like promotional pens. Especially the prescription pens and bank pens. I know there are others like me. What is this weird obsession? Help me to let go and CUT the fabric and use the pens to write on the stationery....help.....

I have been neglecting things here a bit as it may appear, but really I am still staying busy. I have posts up on Dinker and Giggles so go check it out over there and stay tuned for the other changes here at Stitchblade!

So awesome!

Posted by Stitchblade | 8:18 PM

I can not even explain how excited I am. Things have been a little rough around here lately. The economy sucks. No, really.... it sucks. Money has been tight and I have been looking for more ways to bring in a few bucks. Things are falling into place in more ways than one. I have an awesome friend that is helping me get started on some really exciting things. Just in time too! I mean Christmas is around the corner! I feel like more people are starting to notice my efforts, it's as if there is digital signage some place with "Stitchblade" flashing across it. It's fantastic and I want to dive right into it all! I just need to get myself organized and in order to take on all these tasks and get them accomplished and really get it all going. So to those that are helping me along on this great ride......THANK YOU! So people...stay tuned for some really big changes happening around here!

Sponsor me at Out of the Darkness

Posted by Stitchblade | 7:59 PM Sep 28, 2008

As you know, our friend Ben Cooksey committed suicide in July. His family has set up a walk team and we have joined it.

My goal is only $100, I hope to exceed this. If everyone that reads my blog, or has me on myspace or in a yahoo group just donated $1.00 I would meet this goal of $100 and surely go over it.

I will be joining with thousands of people nationwide this fall to walk in AFSP's 2008 Out of the Darkness Community Walk to benefit the American Foundation for Suicide Prevention. I would appreciate any support that you give me for this worthwhile cause. The American Foundation for Suicide Prevention is at the forefront of research, education and prevention initiatives designed to reduce loss of life from suicide. With more than 32,000 lives lost each year in the U.S. and over one million worldwide, the importance of AFSP's mission has never been greater, nor our work more urgent.I hope you will consider supporting my participation in this event. Any contribution will help the work of AFSP, and all donations are 100% tax deductible.Donating online is safe and easy! To make an online donation please click the "Support This Participant" button on this page.Thank you for visiting my fundraising page!

Sewing swimsuits

Posted by Stitchblade | 7:25 PM

I figure if I want to have them done for next summer that I probably should start figuring this out now. Have any of you ever sewn swimwear? My idea is to sew the girls really cool 1950's style children's swimsuits, you know...ones that actually COVER. Any tips and advice would be greatly appreciated. If you have a horror story and want to tell me just to forget it then that would be good too, I sure don't want to bite off more than I can chew!

It's a BOY!

Posted by Stitchblade | 11:38 AM Jul 13, 2008

There are many many grandchildren in this family. Well I should say MANY girls. Today I am going to a baby shower for my sister in law who is having a BOY! Wooohooooo a boy! So I made her blanket with Alexander Henry Baseball fabric backed with Red Minky. I think it turned out really cute. I must admit Minky is a pain in the rear to sew though! I am really anal on my lines when sewing and I tell you what... that stuff.... no matter how many pins you put in it will not stay put! Thankfully it is done and cute. This isn't the only gift I am taking, but the only one I made. The pictures are not the greatest, I was having some issues with PSP today.

Arts & Crafts

Posted by Stitchblade | 2:38 PM Jul 1, 2008

Today was the promised (and dreaded) Playdoh day. Playdoh is fun, playdoh is a pain in the butt to clean up! Thankfully no carpet in our house so that makes it a bit easier. Morgan found a brand new box of Floam at the thrift store so she was using Floam while the girls used the playdoh.
Here is another apron that was made for a GC mama! This one is made from vintage fabric and I think I am in love! I love the stripes on it! I hope she likes it too!
