Testing 1, 2, 3, 4 hours?????

Posted by Stitchblade | 11:48 PM Jul 30, 2007

Testing took almost 4 hours today. I guess that is a good thing though because they take the test and stop when they can not go any further. So I would guess 4 hours of it meant she got through a lot of the packets. There were high school aged kids taking the same test. No one seemed to know when I would get the results but I am assuming at the open house. I am sure she did very well. The testing was mainly on reading and comprehension (which she grasps VERY well) and then Math (one of her favorite subjects). So no worries here.

One of our watermelons was ripe for picking today. It was one of the smallest ones. We were so nervous as we cut into it, it was perfect! The kids almost devoured the whole thing. This year was our first garden, so the kids get very excited each time something we grew is ready for them to try. We were able to have one of our cantelopes a few weeks ago, but then we had the weeks of rain and flooding here and it ruined them. The rest turned to a nasty mush.

Morgan is VERY crafty. She has huge love for painting and I think she is quite good. She has taken over my paints and brushes!!!! I have a few of her works on canvas hanging around our home and they just make me smile. Here are her two most recent paintings.

Finally a moment....

Posted by Stitchblade | 9:02 PM Jul 29, 2007

Things have been so busy around here this summer. Tomorrow will be no exception. Testing for the new school year starts tomorrow. Luckily all of my uniform shopping is done (way to go meee!). Anyhow while I have a moment...and I mean "A" moment I wanted to post my lucky thrift store find! I was reading on my blog neighbors blog how she wants her "piglet" to love Hello Kitty, which we all know means she is yet another grown woman in love with Hello Kitty. I have had this addiction for years. I have tons and tons of stationary. stickers, little novelties that I hoard. Anyhow...the point....I was at the thrift store the other day...was it yesterday or Friday? I can't remember, I have serious mommy brain (its harder on moms of girls!). Really though the day doesn't matter...what matters is what I found. It was a comforter ($3.00), Fitted sheet ($1.00), and a fitted top sheet ($1.00). Its in perfect condition and is now Ms. Emma's crib set.

It matched the bumpers I already had pretty well. $5.00 and too cute. I also snatched up a Care Bear crib sheet as well, I'm not sure if it will continue its life as a sheet or end up as something new. Well, I am now NAK and it gets hard to type so I guess my moment is over. Speaking of NAK...be sure to click on the book release challenge in my side bar. I passed on my nursing books years back so I will not be participating, but wanted to link it anyhow.

Simple Project

Posted by Stitchblade | 12:03 AM

My oldest daughter (9yrs) is very much in to making bottle cap jewelry right now. I just came across this video for some earrings. Thought I would add it up here for you guys to see. I think these could be made shorter with some more girlie style and be very cool for the younger girls. It's late so I will not be able to show her tonight, but I am sure this is one that we will do and I will post project photos when we get to it.

I picked up a bag of what I assumed was usable sheets, only to get them home and discover some had been cut. Oh well, now I have fabric as well. First project from the sheets was this cute lil children's half apron. It has a 2 section pocket on the front for stashing lots of stuff!

Vintage Garden Dress

Posted by Stitchblade | 7:34 PM Jul 20, 2007

I really enjoy creating clothes that grow with our kids. This is another example of that. This Sweet little top you see above is reconstructed from a vintage pillowcase. It is gathered at the top and ties at the neck in a big bow. It starts as a dress for your little ones and grows with them to about a sz 4-5. It is pictured here on a 3 yr old who wears a sz 3, and below on a 15 mo old who wears 12-18mo. You can find this dress for sale in my Etsy shop.

Coffee and Laundry...oh oh and ChaCha.com

Posted by Stitchblade | 8:58 AM

This is how my mornings begin. First I head to the coffee pot and get that started. Then I head to the office and fire up this beast of a computer. Next I head to the Laundry room to start on the never ending pile. Head back to the kitchen, grab that first cup of coffee and sit down to chacha! Have you ever checked it out? No?? Go try it now. Its pretty cool, especially for people that are just not good at finding what they need on the net. You go there, type in your search, then on the search page click search with guide, or maybe it says chat with guide? I can't remember. But anyhow when you click this a live guide appears to do all of your searching for you! I can not tell you how helpful this was when I burnt myself with Jalapenos (don't ask...that's another post for another day) and needed help immediately! Or when my oldest is doing research and she gets someone to find her the exact pages she needs for her grade level! They (we) check every site before sending. Click to try it out! Chacha.com ................
ChaCha Logo on White Background
Ok did you try it? Keep in mind Chacha is still in the Beta Stage. Chacha will only get better. There are more new and exciting features on the way!

My posting on this blog will be all over the place on subject, ideas, consistency....Sometimes I may do more than one in the same day...sometimes maybe only 1 the whole week. I am a scatterbrain and this is what happens when a scatterbrain has a blog! Until later.....(probably today because I need to tell everyone about the awesome hang tags I am getting )
