Frosted Flakes Plant a Seed, Earn Your Stripes

Posted by Stitchblade | 9:24 PM Jan 31, 2009

The best way to keep a child healthy and happy is with sports and play. They build self confidence and keep in good physical health. Sadly though a lot of communities lack having a playing field that is pleasant to visit. This equals more children sitting in front of the T.V. drooling as they play 5 more hours of video games.

With the current economic struggle, playing fields everywhere are being neglected due to budget cuts in funding. Kellogg's Frosted Flakes is helping us out! They are committed to helping to rebuild athletic fields across America.

Kellogg's Frosted Flakes Earn Your Stripes program has made a call to action for a nationwide field renovation program! The program kicks off this Super Bowl Sunday with a commercial called "Plant a Seed". The commercial focuses on how together we all can make a difference in kids' lives.

The program will make over about 50 fields across the U.S. to help give our families better places to be active and play. By visiting the website you can nominate a field in your own neighborhood!

We need to inspire our children to help our communities! My own daughter, Morgan is doing things to help our community through 4H. She has organized her very own food drive!

What have you encouraged your children to do lately to help out? I would love to hear some more ideas!

Don't forget to check out Mom Central for more information about this and other great programs.

Rad Gifts For Kids

Posted by Stitchblade | 1:19 PM

I'm thinking ahead to all of the birthdays coming up for my girls. I found these personalized books and thought they were a great idea. They are cooler than any other personalized book I have ever seen. They actually put the kids name through out the book in the pictures! I know Emma and Lauren would be so amazed to see their names in the images! What a great idea this is!

Send Me Your Coupons!

Posted by Stitchblade | 1:55 PM Jan 22, 2009

PLEASE?

It's for a good cause. Morgan (age 10) has her 4H projects going and one of her projects is collecting coupons for military families. If you want to help out let me know and I will give you our address to send them too. I am pretty sure they can be expired as well.

Also, if you are in the Denton area, she is doing her own food drive. If you want to help her by donating, again please contact me and I will send you the info for dropping off food for this. Nothing that needs refrigeration please!

You all rock! Thanks for helping a kid help her community!

Sharing My Points

Posted by Stitchblade | 8:43 AM Jan 21, 2009

I have been doing MyPoints for a few years now. I have earned more gift cards than I can count. I think a lot of people don't join MyPoints because they think it is one of those things that keep making you click click click click. It is SO not like that. MyPoints sends you emails. Now in these emails it says click here to earn 5 points, 10 points or whatever. Click there...earn points. It adds up SUPER fast.

Now another way to earn points is online shopping. If you need to order something online then go to MyPoints first and see if your shop participates. You can get discounts as well as earn points from places like 123 inkjets, Target, The Gap, Drugstore.com, Snapfish....just TONS of places. When you get a lot of points you can cash them in for gift cards. I usually get them to Starbucks. Lately though, I am stockpiling my points

So, MyPoints is by invite only and I have 4 invites left for this month. If you would like one please leave me a comment so I have a way to contact you to get your Name and Email address. HURRY!

Remember Those Changes?

Posted by Stitchblade | 9:18 AM Jan 15, 2009

Remember the changes I mentioned? Well they are happening now, as you can probably tell. Things look a bit different around here, new name even! Other things are finally coming together as well. You can go take a look at how the website is coming together: Stitchblade Designs. Still working on it, but its definitely coming together!

Also check out the website I have been building for my Husbands Band HIT & RUN, and also our friends HAMMERLOCK from Oakland Ca.

Some of you that have been reading for awhile know that our friend BC committed suicide back in July. He was our friend and the bass player for HIT & RUN. It took them a very long time to find someone who could take on his spot in the band. After searching for MANY months they have found that person. Mark from Mitra and Pumping Ethyl has joined them on bass. They are coming back full force playing a show with AGNOSTIC FRONT at Lola's Saloon in Fort Worth, TX on February 14th. Yea, I guess you know what my Valentines Day plans are haha, maybe they will play me a love song?

Cozi Gets Me Organized, now isn't that nice!

Posted by Stitchblade | 2:58 PM Jan 12, 2009

One of my resolutions was to get organized! I'm on the hunt for all that can help. Mom Central sent me off to review "Cozi".

First things first....it is FREE, that's rad. I really like free stuff.

What can Cozi do for us?

  • Manage Crazy Schedules
  • Track Shopping and To-Do Lists
  • Organize Household Chores
  • Stay in Communication
  • Share Memories
Here are some of the features:
  • Family Calendar
  • Family Journal
  • Customizable Lists
  • Photo Screen Saver
  • Reminders and Messages
  • Sync with Outlook
  • Mobile Phone Access
All you need to get started is a Cozi account—it's quick and easy, with no downloads required!

“In addition to the ways that moms can get their shopping lists and calendars already on any mobile phone via text message and using our toll free number, Cozi now has a mobile version especially for the iPhone and Windows Mobile phones. Families can now sign-in and access their Cozi account using their mobile web browsers. They can add and edit shopping lists and view and edit their family calendar using the mobile version of Cozi right from their iPhone. This is a new feature! You can learn more about it here:http://www.cozi.com/Promo-Cozi-Mobile.htm

So, I highly recommend you check out this FREE site to help you too! Very user friendly and like I mentioned before.... it is FREE. You can keep everything together in one place and even sync it to your outlook, check it from your phone etc!

I'm off to go work on my page some more! I truly needed a site like this.

Thanks to Mom Central for letting me know about it and letting me share it with my readers! Please check it out and leave me a comment letting me know what you think and if it is useful to you.

Healthier Cooking

Posted by Stitchblade | 10:06 AM Jan 5, 2009

I love my George Foreman Grill. My mom and dad got it for me a few years back and we use it quite often. Watching the thick sludge of fat draining off the food being cooked makes for healthy grilling.

There is so much you can make on a George Foreman grill. Cooking frozen hamburger patties is quick and easy. Steaks, Chicken....you name it! It's super simple to use and easy to clean. I don't know how I made it all those years before.

Sure grilling outdoors is always best, but when you have bad weather or not a lot of time you can just pull that baby out and plug it in for some great easy grilling. What sorts of things do you use your George Foreman Grill for?

Could I Be Arrested?

Posted by Stitchblade | 10:35 PM Jan 1, 2009

So once upon a time ago.......I was almost arrested for my purse. I have a purse that I purchased at the mall. I totally didn't ever think I could go to jail for it. Well long story short...I was pulled over, officer said it was illegal for me to carry the purse and that he very well could take me to jail right then and there. Texas cops don't seem to like me too much. Anyhow I'll have to take a picture of the purse and post the full story another day. The purse had a small miniature pair of brass knuckles as the clasp. This apparently makes the purse a weapon. So my question now is, could I be arrested for wearing these?
