Double Espresso please!

Posted by Stitchblade | 6:49 PM Aug 28, 2008

OH boy what have I gotten myself into? The girls had 4H sign ups today. Lauren is 4 so she is old enough for Clover Kids. Morgan and Lauren both signed up for 5 classes each! I have no idea what to expect. No clue what all is involved. I am clueless. Yes clueless. Yea, that's right.

This weekend is the Ben Cooksey Memorial show and we will be there in full force. BWB from Texas, Arkansas (now TX), and even California. The BWB girls in GA have their own thing going on at the Drive Invasion. Both events outside in the heat. Fro's galore. No one rocks a Fro like Jessica, but I am working on it.

I think I need a turbocharger installed in my brain. That would make things much easier.
Oh yea...we (Morgan, but you know it is a WE since someone has to get her there right?) are also going to be joining an American Girl Book club as well. Am I nuts?

Superfoods

Posted by Stitchblade | 2:13 PM Aug 24, 2008

I have been reading about Superfoods.  Superfoods...all the good stuff that makes us have more energy, fight off disease and all that grooviness.  I came across Orovo Top 10 Superfoods products.  They have a list of the Top 10 Superfoods and everything they are good for.  Definitely something to look into...I am not getting any younger and health is becoming increasingly important to us.  One health minded thing that we have done was cutting out soda.  We use to always have soda in the house.  Over the last few years though it has became a VERY rare thing to find in our home.  I think this has made me feel a lot better.  I used to drink coke, and J drank Dr. Pepper.  The only time I have a soda anymore is if I happen to be out having something to eat, because restaurant tea usually bites.  I am a picky tea drinker.  I like MY tea and pretty much only my tea.  Well my moms tea which is where my tea came from anyhow.

Wash your face with Gold?

Posted by Stitchblade | 9:57 AM Aug 23, 2008

Yes seriously, at about $124 (found online for $24!) a bar..... this has to be the most expensive soap!  While researching acne scars cream for a friend I came across the site linked.  It has a top 5 list of the best acne treatments.  I had never known that gold was good for your skin.  It contains 24K gold flakes, and from what this says, the gold kills acne at the source.  Asians have used gold for its health benefits for years.  Gold is an all-natural mineral that is non-toxic and exhibits no interactions with other drugs, and is easily tolerated by the body.

Thinking ahead to Christmas

Posted by Stitchblade | 10:44 AM Aug 22, 2008

Have you started your shopping?  We have!  I have been picking up new things that I find at great prices.  So far I have a Kids Digital Camera that even makes video clips for Lauren!  We also have picked up a great art desk that is wooden with a matching stool!  I think we may also get Lauren and Emma kids golf clubs ,not too sure...I think they would enjoy hitting the balls in the yard.  Morgan is totally over toys, so her biggie will most likely be her own computer, and shopping cards to book stores, since that is her passion.  Only thing is....would it be more logical to get her a laptop or a desk top?  She is 10, very mature and responsible, I was just thinking the laptop would take up less room in her bedroom.  Any suggestions?

Times are tough

Posted by Stitchblade | 9:00 AM Aug 20, 2008

So in an effort to be more frugal and save more money I am investigating every option I come across for lowering living expenses as much as possible.  I have seriously taken up couponing again.  For awhile I slacked because with the baby (now 2) it was hard to get it all done.  Couponing is a LOT of work, but it is fun to see that total drop down in the end.  I have also been paying more attention about making trips to the store, so as to plan everything in a route to save more gas.  Today I am going to auto insurance compare, and see if I can find a lower rate on that.  What are some of your money saving tips to lower living expenses?

Oh yum I Heart the Pioneer Woman..........

Posted by Stitchblade | 6:51 PM Aug 17, 2008

.................and apparently so do my children!

Daddy had band practice so we made whatever we wanted for dinner! If Daddy isn't here we can get away with making meatless meals. I let Lauren be the chef of the day and she wanted to make the Olive Cheese Bread (I put that thought in her head though...I'm the mama, I can do that). Even Emma got in on the fun of chopping olives...Although...that chunky chipmunk cheek leads me to believe she was eating more than she put in the mix! Please excuse the attire...it is Texas after all and it's HOT.......Morgan was in charge of the ingredients that required more than a butter knife to cut....Here is what it looks like before baking...and after...............yea the pic is dark but I really do not feel like messing with it right now.Oh and here it is cut and served looking so so elegant on this exquisite Sponge Bob plastic plate.
Lauren's choice for desert was Yogurt Cream and Berries (yea yea I did it again!). She mixed the cream up earlier today after lunch and it chilled until after dinner. I set her up to remix it and walked out....when I came back I found her looking a little startled with traces of yogurt cream near her mouth...hmm wonder what happened there?

Emma says YUM YUM YUM! Please excuse the greasy hair, apparently the Olive Cheese Bread makes a great telephone too. (again....too lazy to fix pic...must eat more cream and berries......)

Make me laugh...

Posted by Stitchblade | 3:45 PM Aug 15, 2008

So, when I am bored I usually cruise the net looking for something entertaining.  On a lot days I can be found watching you tube videos, have you ever seen videos of the Techno Viking?  I highly suggest it!  Todays entertainment was viewing funny t-shirts, go ahead.... click it and take a look.......I think there is something for everyone there!  I can see a few I would love to pick up for my friends.  I want to know which one you would buy?  This is definitely something for adult only viewing, as some of the sayings are outrageous, but it is all in good fun.  So link me to your fav places to be entertained!

Camping and Shoes....

Posted by Stitchblade | 1:38 PM Aug 13, 2008

I'm trying to plan a camping trip for all the girls. Possibly going to Turner Falls in OK. I think the little ones are at an age where something like this would be quite enjoyable. Don't get me wrong, they have all been camping several times...I just mean with the falls and playing in the streams. Planning this has me window shopping for goodies we need to go. The girls definitely need some Teva's (me too please!). While checking out pricing I found this great pair:
Totally loving these! They are even on sale at Footwear etc. Anyhow while looking at the Teva's for the girls I came across Dansko Clogs. I am thinking I need a pair of clogs..not for camping, but just because I like them.
I'm barefoot around here most of the time...you know how us country folk are, so I think these would be awesome to have to slip on, stylish too! Brown or Black is the question though???? Free shipping on any pair of Dansko over $59.98 and no sales tax!

Weekend fun!

Posted by Stitchblade | 9:20 AM Aug 11, 2008

Well we got to use our Ice Cream ball that I won in the Bloggy giveaways!  Here are pictures of the kids making ice cream!

It was super easy!  We used half and half, sugar and vanilla.  The ice cream was yummy!  Took about 30 min and the kids had a lot of fun making it!

My little Artists!

Posted by Stitchblade | 8:21 AM Aug 8, 2008

This was yesterday right after Play-doh. I wanted to post them last night but I was so tired. SO, um yea....my kids change clothing daily...these are from yesterday. Our humongous paint tray is the plastic lid from our eggs. Works EXTREMELY well as a paint tray. Some of the cups have water, others paint and they were mixing colors. My girls are pretty darn artistic if you ask me. Lauren can draw so well already and she is only 4. I showed her one time the other day how to draw a pig and she mastered it second try! Maybe she will be a tattoo artist like her mama? Nah, I would rather her not be...maybe a book illustrator!

What's been going on at our house?

Posted by Stitchblade | 2:09 PM Aug 7, 2008

Well first of all I was the winner of Skip To My Lou's giveaway for a Mega Play and Freeze Ice Cream Maker! I am so excited to get it and let the girls try it out!

It has been so hot here in Texas (107!)! Yesterday thankfully we had a short break from the heat and I was able to walk the girls to the park first thing in the morning. They had a blast and some much needed time outside. I feel bad, but the heat is just too much some of these days to let them out in it. We were going to the public pool until this crazy "crypto" outbreak....no thanks!

This morning the little ones made homemade play-doh. It was a simple no cook recipe so they were able to basically make themselves with very little help from me.
First they mixed 2 cups of flour, 1 cup of salt, and 1/4 cup oil.
Then we added a pkg of Grape koolaid for yummy smell, and weird gray color, plus 3/4 cup water. Mix well then have a mama knead it til nice and smooth.
INSTANT HAPPINESS!
After Play-Doh was a painting session, but it is late now and I really should get to bed. I'll take some time to post those pictures tomorrow.
